A 22 year old suspect was arrested in Mowbray for hijacking a vehicle. The arrest follow after police on a routine patrols noticed a white Nissa Micra in station road in Mowbray.
“We tested the registration number of the vehicle which confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen during a Hijacking in Observatory on Sunday morning”.
“During a pursue the vehicle was stopped near the Mowbray railway station, and the police arrested one suspect” said Woodstock police station captain Hilton Malila.
It is believed that the two suspects threatened the owner of the car with a knife and pulled her out of the vehicle during the hijack in Observatory. Then they drove off with the vehicle leaving her unharmed.
Police investigations led to the arrested of the second suspect, a 26 year old male.
The two suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate court today on charges of armed robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.
