With the Metrotail strike entering its fourth day, crime seems to be taking advantage on the other side.
Today trains are not operating at all in Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha area because of cable theft between Netreg and Bonthuwel.
In Mitchells Plain railway commuters forced themselves onto the Golden Arrow busses and it caused chaos.
“Police were called in and managed to restore calm,” said Inspector Ian Williams.
More busses were organised for train commuters to get them on their places of work.
Meanwhile, Metrorail call centre has reported that today in most areas trains are operating on a weekly schedule, despite the strike.
The reports says in Southern and Northern area trains are operating normal, but services will be reduced.
While Bellville trains via Lavistown are operating without disruptions.
