Commuters across the city struggled to get to work on time today, as taxi drivers embarked on strike action.
Taxi services in Khayelitsha, Milnerton and Mitchell’s Plain were halted this morning.
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town says it will support the police should there be any kind of violence and intimidation towards commuters or other drivers.
The City says they have dispatched more SAPS members and are on high alert to combat violence.
“We have provided additional law and traffic enforcement in support of the police. If there are any incidents of violence or intimidation, the City will support the South African Police Service in responding to this,” said City spokesperson Kylie Hatton.
