Suspect killed in attempted robbery, the other shot in the leg

A 25 year old male was killed during an attempted robbery in Phillipi-East on Symphony Way.

The second suspect was shot in the leg, while the third suspect managed to evade capture and is still at large.

It is alleged that the three suspects approached two security guards while visiting sites at Symphony Way.

One suspect hit a security guard with an empty beer bottle against his head. The other two suspects tried to rob the other security guard of his cellphone.

The guard then took out his firearm, during which a scuffle between him and the two suspects ensued.

It is alleged that the security guard shot the one suspect in his chest and back, fatally wounding him.

Another suspect was shot in his left leg and hospitalised later.
