One hundred and twenty drunk drivers have been arrested in the city for driving without valid driver’s licences and 81 were arrested for operating unlicensed vehicles.
The arrest came after Cape Town Traffic officers intensified their efforts by holding roadblocks in Khayelitsha, Gordon’s Bay and Bishop Lavis.
“The statistics speak for themselves. Our officers will further intensify their efforts to ensure compliance with the traffic laws and so decrease the rate of alcohol-related accidents.
“The highest reading was recorded at 3.32mg/1000ml of breath,” said spokesperson for the Cape Town Traffic Services Merle Lourens.
