Western Cape education MEC Donald Grant, has condemned the stabbing of two learners at Arcadia Secondary in Bonteheuwel yesterday.

The incident took place on the playground. The two Grade 8 victims were discharged from hospital after treatment.

The two Grade 9 learners accused of the stabbings have been arrested and their parents informed.

The incident is alleged to be gang-related.

Grant says it is “deeply regrettable” that yet another school stabbing occurred a day after the department started handing out hand held metal detectors at high-risk schools.
