Trade union Solidarity says it is delighted to have reached an agreement with First National Bank to review the financial institution’s current employee policies.
The union had criticised the bank, accusing it of discriminating against white employees.
Solidarity claims black FNB workers are given first preference when they apply for bank-funded bursaries.
Solidarity’s Reint Dykema says the decision to grant financial assistance should not be determined by the applicants’ race.
