The fifth and final sales phase of Fifa World Cup tickets kicks off in several centres today.
This is the first time in the history of the tournament that tickets will be sold over the counter.
Reports say excited fans camped outside some selling points overnight to make sure that they get their hands on some of the half-a-million tickets made available for all 64 matches.
The phase will also run during the World Cup as tickets make their way back into the system.
Tickets will be available on selected Shoprite Checkers Supermarkets.
In Cape Town, Capetonians can make their way to get tickets to Century City and Plumstead Checkers stores.
However, the company says tickets on the selected store will be only available on Monday, 19 April 2010.
According to a spokesperson, Fifa elected the date when the retailer can start selling tickets and print tickets that have previously been booked elsewhere. Only credit cards, debit cards and cash will be accepted as payment.
The Computicket call centre and website will not have a facility to book tickets for the games.
Any questions about games and tickets, or problems with tickets must be discussed with Fifa on their hotline number – 083 123 2010.
Enquiries can also be sent to enquiries@2010fwctc.co.za or visit www.fifa.com/2010.
