The National Union of Mineworkers says it is hopeful that wage negotiations with power utility, Eskom, could be reached soon, shutting down any potential of a strike.
The NUM’s Shane Chosane says talks are still underway, but added that the union has reduced its wage demands from 18-percent to 15-percent. Chosane says they also want a housing allowance.
He says this is the first time Eskom has indicated a willingness to move from its initial offer of five-percent.
