Reports allege that Bafana Bafana gear up for their make-or-break game this week constrained by internal tensions.

With experienced players like Bernard Parker, Matthew Booth and MacBeth Sibaya remaining on the bench, there are rumours that the prospect of big-money deals for local footballers seeking to secure contracts with overseas clubs is overshadowing national interests.

Meanwhile Bafana Bafana’s Teko Modise has defended himself against criticism levelled at him.

Modise has been slammed for missing chances against Mexico, with fans feeling he does not deserve to be playing.

Modise admits that he missed chances but says he will prove himself when they take on France in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

DA leader and Western Cape Premier Helen Zille say Bafana will need a miracle for the much anticipated match, which is also the team’s last game in the group stages.

“We will need a miracle – in the form of a big win against France on Tuesday - to stand a chance of progressing to the knock-out stages. Bafana Bafana need our support now more than ever. And we will stand firm. We are not fair-weather fans,” Zille said.
