13 police officials arrested

Thirteen police officials have been arrested in connection with the incident that happened, where prisoners managed to escape in court.

Eight prisoners escaped at the South Gauteng High Court; before they were due to appear on murder and robbery charges.

Colonel Noxolo Kweza said “The arrest of the officers comes after investigations into possible misconduct, gross negligence and aiding prisoners to escape”.

Police managed to re-arrest seven of the prisoners but one is still at large.
