Before 11:00 today in the Nyakallong township a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed.
A clash between learners and police caused the shooting.
The teenager was declared dead on the scene. It has been alleged that the girl was shot by police at Allanridge near Welkom.
Captain Steven Takeng said "We cannot reveal the details of the shooting at this stage as they are being investigated by the Independent Complaints Directorate."
