The Congress of SA Students’ (Cosas) demand that final exam marks of pupils increased by 25% have been rejected by the Department of Basic Education.
According to media reports the department met with the Cosas on Saturday to discuss the exam recovery plan after protests over matric preliminary exams.
The department’s spokesperson Hope Mokgatle says they made it clear to Cosas that they were not planning to increase exam marks.
A follow-up meeting with between the Cosas and Basic Education minister will take place this week.
