Chris Hani’s killer Clive Derby-Lewis’s parole application may have been further compromised by his wife’s attempt to smuggle a laptop into the hospital where he is getting treatment.

Correctional Services spokesperson Manelisi Wolela says Gaye Derby-Lewis tried to smuggle the laptop to her husband during a visit.

The 74-year-old is in hospital after seriously damaging his leg.

The computer has been confiscated and experts are examining it.

Derby-Lewis has served 17 years of a 25-year sentence for his part in the murder of South African Communist Party secretary general Chris Hani.
