A female driver is fighting for her life in a Johannesburg hospital after a head-on collision at the intersection of Atlas and Geldenhuis roads yesterday.
Details as to what caused the accident are still being investigated.
Firemen worked tirelessly to free the critically wounded female using the Jaws of Life while Netcare 911 paramedics working eagerly to stabilise her.
The Netcare 1 medical helicopter with a trauma doctor on board was dispatched to the scene to assist medics to stabilise the injured female.
Netcare 911 doctor and paramedics placed the patient on a ventilator and she was airlifted to the Netcare Union hospital for further treatment.
