A KwaZulu-Natal matric learner has been killed in what police say was the fourth attempted hijacking on Wednesday evening in the Pinetown area.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said, "The learner's 22-year old brother was speaking to a friend outside when a group of men arrived in a vehicle and demanded the keys to his friend’s car."

The suspects then shot him in the leg when he jumped over the property's fence to call for help.

Meanwhile, the grade 12 learner was shot in the face when he came out of the house. He died on the scene.

The 18-year old were part of a twin, who is currently writing their matric exams.

The men fled the scene with a blue Toyota Yaris.
