Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille says her first choice before the World Cup was that, Cape Town’s Newlands Stadium should have been adapted for the soccer tournament’s matches.
Zille believes that would have been a much cheaper option than to replace the old Green Point Stadium.
She confirmed, however, that the new Cape Town Stadium would be feasible for years to come.
She urged Cape Town people to get together and to remember the spirit of the World Cup.
