In the past week in the Western Cape 1600 motorists have been arrested for traffic offences.

The joint operation between SAPS, metro police and Cape Town Traffic Services called “when duty calls” has done 258 vehicle check points and 45 road blocks.

This operation is in preparations for the festive season which is around the corner.

Police are using this as preparation in the lead up to the festive season.

The police’s Andre Traut said “We will not tolerate criminals to spoil the holiday period for our residents of the Western Cape. We appeal to our law abiding community to tolerate our additional efforts and bear in mind that these efforts are done with a sole purpose to create a safer Western Cape.”
