Police in East London have arrested 18 suspected illegal immigrants during a raid on a shop yesterday.
Illegal food and appliances, valued at around R100, 000 were confiscated at a shopping mall.
Police spokesperson Mtati Tana said, “Police on the raid discovered that the ID documents for permanent resident were not up to scratch. Apparently they were not born in South Africa and police have to take them back to their original country”.
It has been reported that sixteen of the immigrants were Chinese nationals, while another two were from North Africa.
