The man accused of killing British tourist Anni Dewani made his first court appearance today in the Wynberg Regional Court in Cape Town.

26-year-old Xolile Mngeni from Khayelitsha did not have a lawyer, and therefore the case was postponed to the 25th of November to allow him to get legal representation.

28-year-old Dewani’s body was discovered on Sunday morning after she and her husband Shrien were hijacked in Gugulethu on Saturday night.

Magistrate Jackie Redelinghuys told the accused that he was also being charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances.
