City of Cape Town’s law enforcement department says it has seen a drop in alleged bribery cases this year.

Safety and Security Committee says this success is a result of recent exposures of fraud and corruption in all levels of the department.

In a survey conducted on two local radio stations’ listeners and one local newspaper readers related to bribery, nine people said they bribed a metro police officer, compared to over 1,800 in Johannesburg.

The city’s Director for Safety and Security Richard Bosman says six officers were found guilty of corruption in three separate cases this year.
