A number of politicians, family and friends assembled at the Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Kagiso for the funeral of Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane’s son, Retlabuse.
Journalists have prevented from attending the service, as they have blamed for his death by their “constant negative reporting on Retlabuse’s life”.
The 23-year-old, who most often found himself on the wrong side of the law, allegedly committed suicide early last week.
In July, Retlabusa was linked to an explosion that burnt down part of a house in Kagiso, west of Johannesburg.
Hundreds of mourners are watching the funeral proceedings on a big screen outside the church showing the face of the youngster.
