A taxi accident on the N17 Highway near the Trichardt Road offramp, outside Benoni has left five people dead.
It is believed that the taxi driver lost control and the vehicle overturned numerous times.
Netcare 911’s Chris Botha “Several other people were seriously and critically injured. Paramedics and emergency services rushed to the scene and tried to stabilise all the injured before transporting them to various hospitals for further care”.
A further four people were critically injured and six other people had injuries ranging from serious to minor.
