The Congress of South African Trade Unions has slammed the shambles at the World Youth and Student Festival in Pretoria.
A number of events gone wrong has angered the union at the festival thus far.
Guest speakers haven’t pitched, seven out of yesterday’s 18 seminars were cancelled and delegates complained of bad food, a lack of transport and poor accommodation arrangements.
COSATU says they are particularly upset with the National Lotteries Board who donated 40-million-Rands to the organisers.
The union has demanded a full audit on how the money was spent.
Cosatu says Lotto money comes overwhelmingly from workers and the poor who buy tickets in the hope of escaping from poverty.
