The Basic Education department says all the exam scripts of the 2010 matriculants should all be marked by the end of the week.

About 642-thousand wrote their final year exams in South Africa.

"There have been no major disruptions during the marking process and all,” the Department said.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshegka has dismissed calls for more lenient marking of learners’ papers that don’t have English as home language.”

She says, “Adjusting results will not be a true reflection of pupils’ achievements.”

The matric results will be available on January 6.
