Three Johannesburg police officers have been arrested for a business robbery on Friday.
Lieutenant Tshisikhawe Ndou said, “The police officers allegedly stormed into the jewellery shop and produced their appointment certificates claiming to be on official police business.”
“They then grabbed the shop owner, pointed firearms at him and stole a bag which contained R25, 000 and an undisclosed amount of jewellery,” Ndou added.
The stolen goods were and a blue BMW with false registration that was allegedly to be used as the getaway car were recovered by the police.
A fourth suspect escaped with the keys to the car.
The men will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.
