A fire warning has been issued by the SA Weather Service in the Cape Peninsula, as another hot day sends thousands of visitors and locals alike to picnic sites and the beaches.
700 full-time fire fighters are on duty at 29 fire stations on standby across the city.
Then there are the additional 116 seasonal fire fighters to assist with bush and vegetation fires.
Spokesperson for the City’s Disaster Risk Management Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says the extreme hot conditions are favourable for runaway fires and Disaster response teams are on heightened alert.
