saac Amuah has been granted bail of R500 000 in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court after turning himself in over the weekend.
Amuah, who is a former a former professor at Manchester Community Technical College, faces charges of sexual assault.
He left Connecticut 12 years ago after being accused of sexually assaulting a 34-year-old student, but he denies all charges against him.
Amuah is married to Nelson Mandela's oldest daughter, Makaziwe.
His next court appearance is on 11 February next year and he now faces being extradited to the United States.
