Police are on a search for a man who allegedly assaulted his wife and set his house on fire while his children were sleeping inside.
Police's Joey Jeevan says the wife and her husband apparently had an argument when she left the house and went to her relatives' home about 100 metres away.
Her husband followed her and then fired a shot at her, but missed. He then assaulted her before allegedly going back to the house, set it alight and fled from the scene.
The woman has been identified as Hlengiwe Zuke; she sustained open wounds to her head and body.
The three children who were in the house when the house was set alight escaped unharmed.
