Cricket official shot dead at Newlands

Luke Fairweather from the Western Province Cricket Association has been shot dead outside Newlands in Cape Town yesterday.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut said, “The details surrounding the shooting are not yet clear. “

According to media reports Fairweather was involved in an altercation with a traffic official over a parking violation when a shot went off.

The traffic official has been arrested and will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.
