Drugs worth R1.1 million found in Beaufort West

Cocaine and khat worth over R1 million was confiscated in three busses in Beaufort West during a police search.

Western Cape police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn said, “A black bag containing about 1.1kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of R923 000 was found in the luggage compartment of a Volvo bus when sniffer dogs searched the luggage compartment.”

Three suitcases and three sport bags containing 1 382 bundles of khat with an estimated street value of about R138 200 were found in the luggage compartment of a white Mercedes bus.

Steyn said, “379 bundles of khat with an estimated street value of about R37 900 were found in two bags were found on the third bus.”

No one has been arrested yet.
