A man from Delft has drowned at Fish Hoek Beach on Thursday.
The man was swimming 5 meters outside of the bathing area when he ran into difficulty.
It was high tide at the time and the man was about 50 meters into the water.
Lifeguards managed to rescue the 30-year-old but were declared dead on the scene.
It is alleged that the man was under the influence of alcohol.
