A 16-year-old provincial surfer from Port St Johns has been killed in a shark attack.
Zama Ndamase was surfing with his brother and other members of the local surf club at Second Beach when he was attacked.
He is the fifth shark victim at the same beach in the past three years four of which have been fatal.
Ndamase was awarded a SA Surfing Scholarship in 2009.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man drowned near Keimoes in the Northern Cape last night when the Kakamas Dam burst its banks.
The man was apparently walking next to the Orange River when he was swept away.
Hundreds of families were evacuated from their homes in Kakamas as flood waters swept through the entrance to the town.
Disaster management in the area are on high alert following the flooding caused by the burst dam.
