A 48-year-old North West tavern owner has been arrested after 10 people died in a stampede at his shebeen at a New Year celebration in Ipelegeng.
Most of the victims who died were apparently underage.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the community not to take the law into their own hands.
The owner faces a charge of culpable homicide.
He will appear in the Sweizer-Reneke Magistrate's Court on Monday.
