Correctional Services says taxpayers will not be paying too much for the renaming of 11 of the country’s prisons.

The aim of the renaming is to honour freedom fighters who were held in these prisons during the apartheid years.

Minister of Correctional Services, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, says an official announcement will be made at a launch in March this year.

Departmental spokesperson Sonwabo Mbananga gives the assurance that tax money won’t be wasted.
