Twenty five people have been arrested suspects in several drug raids across the Cape metro pole.
Metro Police Deputy Chief Yolanda Faro says on Friday ten search warrants were executed in Kraaifontein during an integrated operation between Metro Police and the South African Police Services, yielding four arrests for possession of drugs.
“Two of the arrests were affected by Metro Police officers, 20 parcels of dagga, four Mandrax tablets and one dagga stop were confiscated. Another three suspects were arrested in Hanover Park, also on drug related offences.
“In the early hours, the same day, in Table view, five suspects were arrested during routine patrols for contravening various City by-laws whilst one motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol,” said Faro.
Faro added that later the evening, two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol; one was arrested in Woodstock whilst the other one was nabbed in Rondebosch.
“Our officers targeted these areas following a number of complaints from residents about criminal activities. Drug related an offence is still a major concern.
“Therefore the Metro Police will continue their zero tolerance approach against the dealing and distribution of illegal narcotics,” said Yolanda Faro.
