37 suspects have been arrested in Woodstock and fines to the value of R36 100 were issued in Woodstock over the weekend.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Hilton Malila says the arrest follows during scheduled crime prevention patrols, when police arrested 25 people for less serious offences, six suspects for possession of drugs, two suspects for fraud and four suspects possession of presumable stolen property.
“During an integrated operation, with Law enforcement, on Saturday night with a specific focus on liquor licensed premises , eight premises were visited and fines to the value of R36100-00 for contravention of their liquor license conditions were issued.
“We also arrested one of the owners of a liquor outlet situated in Regent Street Woodstock, for being in possession of a falsified business license,” said Malila.
Malila added that at one of the premises 28 dagga cigarettes and three (3) plastic bank bags with dagga were confiscated and the estimated value of the confiscation is R5000-00.
“We also executed various roaming vehicle check point roadblocks in the precinct , and issued spot fines to the value of R6000-00 to motorist.
“All the suspects arrested will appear in the Cape town magistrates’ court today. These sort of crime prevention operations will be done on a continuous basis in the Woodstock police precinct,” said Malila
