Maitland SAPS seeks the assistance of the public in solving a murder case.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Siyabulela Vukubi says Maitland police attended to a murder complaint at Ainsdale Street, Maitland.
“On arrival of the said premises they found the body of a 46 year old female on the floor in the lounge. There were no signs of forced entry into the house.
“A white electric cord was wrapped around her neck. She was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage,” said Vukubi.
Police are requesting anyone with information about this incident or that can lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) to contact the investigation officer Detective Constable Steven Pritchard on 083 741 7983 or Maitland SAPS on (021) 506 9400 or alternatively Crime stop at 08600 10111.
