The North West government had to deploy officials to Reivilo near Taung yesteday, following unrest in the area.

The community is reportedly demanding to be incorporated into the Northern Cape.

Meanwhile, violence broke out in the Eastern Cape yesterday when a group of African National Congress members stormed into Calata House, the party’s provincial headquarters.

The national ANC has called the action “thuggish and violent”, and condemned the assault of its provincial secretary Oscar Mabuyane and a police member.

The group is believed to be from the Amathole region.

They are apparently unhappy about the local government list process.
