Cwele drug trafficking case does not bode well for the ANC

A political analyst says the 12-year drug trafficking sentence imposed on Sheryl Cwele, the wife of State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele, is positive for the criminal justice system.

Daniel Silke says however that the case against Cwele also highlights the credibility crisis facing government.

Silke says the association of high-ranking ANC members with criminal elements will be problematic this close to the local government elections.
