The Fuel Retailers’ Association has warned that the shortage of low sulphur diesel, particularly in Durban, is likely to get worse over the next few days.
Chief executive Reggie Sibiya says the shortage has apparently been caused by a problem with the imported product.
The next shipment is expected to arrive on Tuesday.
That means that diesel will probably only reach service stations by next Thursday or Friday.
Sibiya adds that the association is concerned about supply problems due to planned and unplanned refinery shutdowns.
