Orion Cold Storage’s Halaal certification suspended

The Muslim Judicial Council has suspended Orion Cold Storage’s Halaal certification after the case appeared for the first time in the Western Cape high Court today.

Dozens of Muslim’s protested in silence outside the court, showing posters of disapproval with Orion Cold Storage.

The company is accused of relabeling pork as Halaal and removing expiry dates from its products.

Marketing manager for the company, Patrick Gaertner claims they were set up by a former business associate.
