The South African Weather Service warns of gale force winds for parts of the Cape Peninsula throughout Boxing Day.
Cape Town Disaster Management officials say veld fires are likely to occur in windy conditions such as today.
Wilfred Solomons Johannes of the Disaster Management says the City of Cape Town appeals to the public that will picnic and make braais along this area and elsewhere in the city to only make fires in selected areas.
A fire gutted a home in Elsies River on Monday morning, leaving six people homeless.
