The Democratic Alliance has slammed government’s approach to preventing the spread of HIV as ineffective.
The DA’s health spokesperson in Gauteng Jack Bloom says that government’s approach to HIV is only succeeding with treatment.
He says the number of pregnant woman infected with the disease has risen by five percent over the last ten years.
Bloom added that routine checks for HIV without the need for informed consent would stop the epidemic in its tracks.
