Police confirmed that seven alleged drug mules were arrested at O.R. Tambo International in December.
The recent arrest of Nolubabalo Nobanda in Thailand ,who was found with cocaine hidden in her dreadlock hairstyle, and the execution of convicted drug mule Janice Linden in China has again put the spotlight on drug trafficking in South Africa.
149 people, of which 22 South Africans, have been caught in 2011 for drug possession at OR Tambo alone.
Most of the arrests that have been made are for cocaine possession and of drugs that are smuggled come from America and Sao Paolo.
