Durban police have launched a search for a man who allegedly raped a mentally ill patient at the Osindisweni Hospital in Verulam.
A spokesperson says the 30-year-old suspect is believed to be a male nurse at the hospital.
The man apparently ordered the woman to be quiet before raping her.
He ran away from the hospital after being questioned by police.
Shocked hospital staff says they are assisting the police in every way they can.
