A tip-off has led Hawks detectives to a huge stash of elephant tusks, ivory, dried shark fins and money in a luxury flat in Bloubergstrand, Cape Town.
Neighbours noticed a foul smell and smoke coming from one of the complex’s garages.
Two Chinese nationals have been arrested. Police found 15 elephant tusks that were still intact and others that were being cut up.
The value of the tusks and ivory is estimated at four-million-Rands.
