One person died in a fire which occurred at the Sweet Home Informal Settlement this morning.
An adult male sustained fatal burn wounds and as a result died from his wounds.
The City’s Disaster Risk Management Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the affected persons will also be issued with building material to rebuild their homes.
Johannes added that the Disaster Risk Management Centre will offer relief aid during the course of today.
The City’s Disaster Risk Management Wilfred Solomons-Johannes has appealed to residents to be careful when working with open flames. When going to bed, residents should isolate electrical devices and extinguish gas burners, candles, lamps and paraffin stoves in order to prevent fires.
