A woman has been arrested for killing her 1-year-old child in Mqanduli south of Mthatha on Monday .
The 18 year old was arrested after the police were notified about the incident said Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela.
Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
The mother was expected to appear in the Mandula Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder.
