President Jacob Zuma urged all members of the public to work together with authorities to crack down on crime and accidents over the festive season.
Zuma said that we lose about 14 000 lives per year because of road deaths.
He also added that the police will give extra effort when cracking down on dangerous and reckless drivers.
More visible police patrols will take place at tourist destinations especially around the coast.
